In Other Words

Words Betty definitely knows: "Betty," "Tessa," "duck" (in reference to one specific duck, not the entire Anatidae family), "bye bye" (as an indication that something is about to happen in the vicinity of the stairs, though she may not know it means leaving), and "No" (though she doesn't obey it). Words Betty might know: "Mommy," "Daddy," "bottle," "diaper change," "nap," and "socky." Words Tessa definitely knows: "Tessa," "No ma'am," "outside," "bunny," "mousie," "supper," "treat," "ride," "walk," "sit," and "lie down."

So far Tessa is still winning, but not by much. I expect Betty's passive vocabulary to overtake the dog's in a matter of weeks, if not days.
