This pic was taken with Steele's phone so it's a little grainy. It's of Betty playing cards with her great-grandmother. Betty's namesake, Grandma Ding, taught the game to Nona (pictured here), and Steele and Nona play it everytime we visit. Grandma Ding called it Spite and Malice. Nona calls it Spit and Polish.I wasn't there--I'm still doing footnotes--but I'm pretty sure Betty just tried to eat the cards. Right now Betty wants to eat everything she sees. Except her food. Dirty diapers, camera cases, feet, Cousin Joseph...these items are all delicious. Squash? Cereal? Peas? Yucky!
