Betty is a very active little baby, and although she is sweet-natured, she is not a cuddler. When she's up, she's up--crawling, playing, standing, etc. And when she sleeps, she sleeps. Rare are the opportunities to just hold her and snuggle. So when she woke up repeatedly last night we thought something might be wrong, and when I went in to get her in the middle of the night and she snuggled up to me and went to sleep, I knew she was sick. Coincidentally, we already had a 9:15 doctor's appointment scheduled for today to get her flu shot boosters. At the doctor's they took her temp. At 100.4 it was low enough to get the shots, and we had the added benefit of having the doctor see her for what wasn't really serious enough for an office visit. He checked her ears and all was fine there. But she is all 'tuffed up and just not herself. Back home, she tried to play, but just didn't have the energy. At one point she crawled over to me, climbed up in my lap, and started sucking her thumb. If she didn't look so miserable it would have been adorable. This picture was taken after her morning nap. And yes, she's still smiling, despite the shots, the cold, and the hated boogie-sucker I keep using on her.
